About Okaimono
Bonjour! My name is Mariz and I created Okaimono.
I started Okaimono in 2020 in Chiba, Japan, after discovering a Facebook group of people who collected tumblers from around the world. Many members were looking for someone who could help them purchase Japan-exclusive items, so I decided to offer my help.
From there, I discovered anime communities and other collector groups, where I began sharing my proxy shopping service.
In 2024, I had to put everything on hold and move to France for my family. It was a big change, but it also gave me a new perspective. I realized that there was just as much interest in unique items from Europe and the Philippines.
I reached out to my cousin, Ivy, and my sister, Catherine, to build partnerships and expand Okaimono’s reach. My husband also connected me with Shin, who has been helping me continue our services in Japan.
And that’s how we got here today—a small idea that started in Japan, grew through the help of family and friends, and continues to connect collectors with special finds from around the world.
